Loc AI

Loc AI estimates the likely real-world location a photo was taken, using only the visual content of the image. This policy explains what the app does with data — and, above all, what it does not.

Your photos are not stored on our servers. An image you analyze is processed in real time to produce a single result and is not retained by our backend afterward, and it is never used to train any model.

What we process

When you pick a photo from your library or take one with the camera and tap “Find Location”, the image is sent to our analysis service so an AI vision model can examine its visual clues — terrain, architecture, vegetation, signage, and so on. We do not read your photo library beyond the single image you select. Loc AI does not use GPS or hidden EXIF metadata; it reads only what is visible in the frame.

We do not collect your name, email, account, contacts, precise device location, or any advertising identifiers. Loc AI has no user accounts, no analytics SDKs, and no ads.

How your photo is used

To analyze an image, the app sends it to our backend (a Cloudflare Worker), which forwards it to OpenRouter, which routes it to Google’s Gemini vision model. The model returns the estimated locations and the clues behind them. The photo is used only to produce that single analysis, in real time — it is not stored by us and not used to train any model on our side. These processors handle the image under their own terms: Cloudflare, OpenRouter, and Google Gemini.

Your history stays yours

The analyses you run (the photos and their results) are stored on your device so you can revisit past cases, and — if you are signed in to iCloud — in your personal iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit, so they survive reinstalling the app and sync to your other devices. They go to Apple, not to us: we have no server copy and cannot read them. Turning iCloud off for Loc AI in iOS Settings stops the sync, and the app keeps working with a local copy. Your remaining free-analysis count is stored only on your device.

Purchases

Analysis packs are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment details, and those transactions are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Children

Loc AI does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available here.
